# MENTIONS THE CHURCH'S DOCUMENTS:

1. Canon 126 &1- The Church recognizes the act of donating goods as a canonical right of every faithful in as much as it is for the benefit of the Church community.

•2. Gaudium et Spes, 76- every baptized catholic is bound to support the Church insofar as her own mission requires it.

•3. Canon 222 &1 - "Christ's faithful have the obligation to provide for the needs of the Church, so that the Church has available to it those things which are necessary for divine worship, for apostolic and charitable work, and for the worthy support of its ministers."

•4. PCP II Art. 118- decreed the eventual abrogation of the Arancel System and to replace it with Tithing System with the condition that due pastoral catechesis should be made prior to its implementation.

5. CBCP-Pastoral Statement on Stewardship on 28 January 2021- Our celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines, the CBCP decided to implement, in a more focused way, what PCP II envisioned as the eventual abrogation of the Arancel System.

•In a Pastoral Statement on Stewardship, the CBCP proposed the SPIRIT OF STEWARDSHIP AS A NEW WAY of developing among the faithful the sense of BEING RESPONSIBLE for the Church, and thus to provide for its needs.

DEVELOP THE SPIRITUALITY OF STEWARDSHIP among our people> the desired fruits: First, that our faithful will be more conscious of their responsibility to joyfully support their parishes and the archdiocese in their many programs of EVANGELIZATION and, in particular, that they willingly support our parishes and archdiocese financially.

•Second, that we would be confident to stop our practice of the Arancel System, that is, the practice of attaching a fixed amount of money to be given to the priest and the parish after the celebration of a good number of the sacraments and, at times, some rites of blessing.

The gradual process started last 24 April 2022, of which the Arancel attached to the celebration of funeral masses, wake masses and funeral blessings was decreed to be discontinued.

Thus, in the Archdiocese of Davao, I decree that in the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism, the Arancel System will now be discontinued. In short, there will be no more expected fixed amount to be given to the priests/parish after this celebration. It is up to the persons and families concerned to offer, if they are willing, some amount as HALAD-PASALAMAT from their generosity and kindness.

THIS WILL TAKE EFFECT STARTING 8 SEPTEMBER 2023, FEAST OF THE NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY.

IKADUHA: CBCP- Pastoral Statement on Stewardship 28 January 2021- Proposed the SPIRIT OF STEWARDSHIP as a New Way of developing among the faithful= the Sense of Being responsible for the Church, and thus to Provide for its Needs.

The Church recognizes the act of donating temporal goods as canonical right of every faithful in as much as it for the benefit of the Church community (canon 1261, &1). At the same time, every baptized catholic is bound to support the Church insofar as her own mission requires it (Gaudium et Spes, 76).

Thus, "Christ's faithful have the obligation to provide for the needs of the Church, so that the Church has available to it those things which are necessary for divine worship, for apostolic and charitable work, and for the worthy support of its ministers (canon 222, &1)."
