-"HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT" (Rom 5:5)

"DILI GAYUD KITA PAKYASON NIINING PAGLAUMA

•WHAT IS HOPE?

"EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT IS HOPE. IN THE HEART OF THE PERSON, HOPE DWELLS AS THE DESIRE AND EXPECTION OF GOOD THINGS TO COME, DESPITE OUR NOT KNOWING WHAT THE FUTURE MAY BRING."

•WHO IS OUR HOPE?

1 Tim 1/1 = "From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by order of God our Savior and Christ Jesus OUR HOРЕ."

"HABANG MAY BUHAY, MAY PAG-ASA."
"KAPAG WALA NG BUHAY, WALA NG PAG-ASA"
"KASI HABANG MAY BUHAY LANG MAY PAG-ASA"

Jn 11: 17-27 (25) "Ako ang mao ang pagkabanhaw ug ang kinabuhi. Ang nagtuo kanako, bisan tuod mamatay, mabuhi.”

•WHY HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT?

1. Rom 5:5 "This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us."

Hope is born of LOVE and based on the love springing from the pierced heart of Jesus upon the cross: "For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life" (Rom 5:19).

That life becomes manifest in our own life of faith, which begins with Baptism, develops in openness to God's grace and is enlivened by a hope constantly renewed and confirmed by the working of the Holy Spirit.

"Kung karon makadungog kamo sa Iyang tingog, ayaw patig-aha ang inyong mga kasingkasing." (Salmo-March27/25-Thursday 3 week of Lent)

2. Christian hope does not deceive or disappoint because it is grounded in the certainty that nothing and no one may ever separate us from God's love.

Rom 8: 35. 37-39 " Who, then, can separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble do it, or hardship or persecution or hunger or poverty or danger or death? No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us! For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above nor world below- there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord."

•WHAT IS THERE IN JUBILEE?

1. "For everyone, may the Jubilee be a moment of GENUINE, PERSONAL ENCOUNTER with the Lord Jesus, the "DOOR" (Jn 10: 7.9) of our SALVATION, whom the Church is charged to proclaim always, everywhere and to all as "OUR HOPE" (1 Tim 1:1)."

2. "Christian life is a journey... a journey of grace... a grace of forgiveness. It is good that celebrations of Jubilee continue, so that the power of God's forgiveness can support and accompany communities and individuals on their pilgrim way."

3. "The Church was already experiencing the grace of the Jubilee as an outpouring of Divine Mercy."
May 13, 2015- Extraordinary Jubilee for the sake of making known and encouraging an encounter with the "Merciful Face of God", the core message of the Gospel for every man and woman of every time and place. It is an invitation for everyone to an intense experience of the love of God that awakens in the hearts the sure hope of salvation in Christ.

4."For all of us, may the Jubilee be an opportunity to be renewed in hope. God's Word helps us find reasons for the hope. Taking it as our guide."

"Kung karon makadungog kamo sa Iyang tingog, ayaw patig-aha ang inyong mga kasingkasing."

GENERAL INSTRUCTION OF THE ROMAN MISAL

1. GIRM #29 - "When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in his word, proclaims the Gospel. Therefore, the readings from the Word of God are to be listened to reverently by everyone, for they are an element of the greatest importance in the Liturgy."

2. GIRM # 55- "For in the readings, God speaks to his people, opening up to them the mystery of redemption and salvation, and offering spiritual nourishment; and Christ himself is present through his word in the midst of the faithful."

JUBILEE:

1. Genuine, Personal encounter= Lord Jesus Salvation, our Hope
2. Experience of Grace Power of God's Forgiveness
3. Experiencing the Grace of an Outpouring of Divine Mercy
= encounter with the "Merciful Face of God"
= intense experience of the Love of God
4. Opportunity to be renewed in Hope

UNSAY ATONG BUHATON?

1. PILGIMAGE= is of course a fundamental element of every Jubilee event. Setting out on a journey is traditionally associated with our human quest for meaning in life. A pilgrimage on foot is a great aid for rediscovering the value of silence, effort and simplicity of life.

2. "above all by approaching the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the essential starting-point of any true journey of conversion. In the particular Churches, special care should be taken to prepare priests and the faithful to celebrate the sacrament of Confession and to make it ready available in its individual form."

4. The Sacrament of Penance assures us that God wipes away our sins. We experience those powerful and comforting words of the Psalm: "It is he who forgives all your guilt, who heals every one of your ills, who redeems your life from the grave, who crowns you with love and compassion... (Ps 103:3-4.8.10-12).

"The Sacrament of Reconciliation is not only a magnificent spiritual gift, but also a decisive, essential and fundamental step on our journey of faith. There, we allow the Lord to ERASE our sins, to HEAL out hearts, to RAISE us up, to EMBRACE us and to REVEAL to us his tender and compassionate countenance. There is no better way to know God than to let him reconcile us to himself (2 Cor 5:20) and savour his forgiveness."

"Let us not neglect Confession, but rediscover the beauty of this sacrament of healing and joy, the beauty of God's forgiveness of our sins!"

"This experience of full forgiveness cannot fail to open our hearts and minds to the need to forgive others in turn. Forgiveness does not change the past; it cannot change what happened in the past, yet it can allow us to change the future and to live different lives, free of ANGER, ANIMOSITY and VINDICTIVENESS. Forgiveness makes possible a BIGHTER FUTURE, which enables us to look at the past with different eyes, now MORE SERENE, albeit still bearing the trace of the past tears."

"FULL FORGIVENESS"= "every sin leaves its mark'. Sin has consequences, not only outwardly in the effects of the wrong we do, but also, inwardly, every sin, even venial, entails an unhealthy attachment to creatures, which must be purified either here on earth, or after death, in the state called Purgatory."

"In our humanity, weak and attracted by evil, certain RESIDUAL effects of sin remain. These are REMOVED by the INDULGENCE, always by the GRACE OF CHRIST, who is himself our 'INDULGENCE'.

"Indulgence is a way of discovering the UNLIMITED nature of God's Mercy. Not by chance, for the ancients, the term "MERCY" and "INDULGENCE" were interchangeable, as an expression of the FULLNESS of God's forgiveness, which knows no bounds."

How Are Indulgences Generally Obtained?

A General Description

Indulgences are gained through certain prescribed/customary conditions and the performance of certain prescribed works.

Indulgences are granted through the action on which the Church attach a remission of the temporal punishment. In other words, we obtain an Indulgence from God through the Church:

"An indulgence is obtained through the Church who, by virtue of the power of binding and loosing granted her by Christ Jesus, intervenes in favor of individual Christians and opens for them the treasury of the merits of Christ and the saints to obtained from the Father of mercies the remission of the temporal punishments due for their sins. Thus the Church does not want simply to come to the aid of these Christians, but also to spur them to works of devotion, penance, and charity."

Prescribed/Customary Conditions:

=to sacramentally confess their sins;

= to receive the Holy Communion;

= to pray for the intentions of the

Supreme Pontiff.

Certain Prescribed Works:

What are these? Every pronouncement of the Holy Father through the Apostolic Penitentiary for a particular occasion to obtain indulgence, these prescribed works are enumerated.

How are Plenary Indulgences Obtained During the Ordinary Jubilee Year 2025?

During the 2025 Ordinary Jubilee, the Holy Father grants a Plenary Indulgence, while all previously granted indulgences remain valid.

Faithful individuals who are truly repentant and free from attachment to sin, are motivated by charity, receive the sacrament of Penance and Holy Communion during the Holy Year, and Pray for the Pope's intentions, can obtained a Plenary Indulgence. This indulgence offers full remission of sins and may also be applied for the benefit of souls in Purgatory in the following ways:

1. Pilgrimages for the Jubilee Indulgence

= To any Sacred Jubilee Site

The faithful can obtain the Jubilee Indulgence by undertaking a pilgrimage to a designated sacred site, participating devoutly in:

• *Holy Mass (especially the Jubilee Mass or Votive Masses for Reconciliation, Charity, or Harmony).

*Other liturgical acts, such as the Liturgy of the Hours, the Via Crucis, the Marian Rosary, the Akathist hymn, or penitential celebrations with individual confessions.

2. Pious Visits to Sacred Places

The faithful can receive the Jubilee Indulgence by devoutly visiting a Jubilee site, individually or in groups, and spending time in Eucharistic adoration and meditation. This should conclude with the Our Father, the Profession of Faith, and prayers to Mary, the Mother of God, emphasizing her maternal closeness during the Holy Year.

3. Works of Mercy and Penance

=Works of Mercy:

The Jubilee Indulgence can be obtained by assisting those in need and serving as signs of hope for those facing hardships through works of mercy. This includes corporal works of mercy, such as feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, prisoners, or the lonely elderly, and spiritual works of mercy, like comforting the afflicted, forgiving offenses, and praying for others.

Penance
The Jubilee Plenary Indulgence can be obtained by embracing the spirit of penance through acts such as abstaining from distractions or excess (e. g., limiting media use, fasting, or practicing abstinence), donating to the poor, supporting life-affirming causes, aiding the vulnerable (e.g., abandoned children, the elderly, or migrants), or dedicating time to community service or similar charitable activities.
